Rhode Island School of Design, the “Harvard” of Design Programs

The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence is well-known for training artists in a wide variety of fields, and has graduated many of today’s authors and illustrators. The museum at 20 North Main Street (see https://risdmuseum.org) features more than 25,000 items in its Prints, Drawings, and Photographs collection. RISD has an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students. Business Insider lists it as the #1 design school in the world. Museum tickets must be purchased in advance.

Examples of its print collection are on RISD’s website at https://risdmuseum.org/art-design/collection.

Major alumni of RISD include writers/illustrators David Macaulay and Chris Van Allsburg.

This is the second stop on our Rhode Island Author Adventures Trail.
