North Carolina was my family’s home away from home when I was growing up. We spent many summers there and treasured it so much that we called it “God’s Country.” We also knew that we were not alone in discovering it. Neighbors from back home would be spotted there too. So when I became a parent, it was high on the priority list for family vacations. My heart was warmed by the calls of the whipoorwills singing in the forests, refreshed by the dewy mornings, spirited by the dirt roads (not as many of those now, sadly), and sweetened by our just-picked blackberries.
It is, indeed, the perfect state for a driving vacation and our North Carolina Author Adventures Trail. Click any link below for author and place information.
